What Kind Of Paint ? FAQs

There are many different paint products to choose from based on the type of warehouse operation you have. When choosing the paint always consult with your salesmen or local paint rep for the best fit for your specific striping application.

  • Water Based Paints / Best used on light traffic low maintenance floors. A clear coat is recommended over water based paints as a secondary layer of protection. While adequate this is not the best product for warehouse striping.
  • Oil Based Paints / One step up from water based striping paints in terms of durability but should also be clear coated. These paints are less porous and do not pick up dirt easily. They are a good choice for limited budget striping.
  • Two Part Epoxies / Epoxies are best suited for indoor use such as warehouses, distribution centers, and factories. They are also more costly however they last much longer than water and oil based products. 90% of our warehouse installations are done with 2 part epoxy.  They do have longer dry times than oil or latex paints but the wait is certainly worth it.

Surface prep is always a concern so that the lines will perform their best over the long term.  At a minimum the floor should be solvent cleaned to remove contaminants. A shot blasted line prior to painting is the best way to achieve longer lasting lines.

Frequently Asked Questions About Warehouse Striping

This is a variable answer question. Epoxy lines can last 5-10 years but it all depends on how clean your warehouse is kept and how you treat the lines.

Epoxy Warehouse Striping can take years and years of foot and forklift traffic. However, dragging things across the lines will cause premature failure. They are super tough but not indestructible.

Once again this is a variable answer question. How much inventory is present, do you close down for nights and weekends? All of those factors affect how long it can take.

We can install 10000-30000LF a day if conditions are appropriate.

Cost is always a factor in any warehouse striping project but not the only factor. The more footage you have the lower the cost per foot. A small job will exceed the cost per foot of a larger project because there is not enough footage to spread fixed the costs.

You should plan on budgeting $1-2 per foot for epoxy striping if you have 5000LF or more. Less than 5000LF the costs can be $3 or more per foot.
